Exactly....In class 10 question 49 should be deleted...Please email it to unified council at exam@unifiedcouncil.com I have already sent mails to them... You can also call them...
Q49 is a problem for all the classes...this question has already been deleted/changed for classes 7,8,9;P.....Only for class 10 it hasn't been changed..
Please solve this question... f(x) is a polynomial inx. f(2)=3,f(3)=2, what is the remainder when f(x) is divided by (x-2)(x-3), what is the remainder....
see, whenever we divide by a quadratic expression i.e of degree2 (like in this case)..we get a remainder either of degree 1(in the form of ax+b) or a constant term
dividend=divisor*quotient+remainder let the quotient be q(x) and rem be ax+b
f(x)=(x-2)(x-3)*q(x)+(ax+b)
Put x=2;
f(2)=(2-2)(3-2)*q(2)+a*2+b 2a+b=3..........(1)
put x=3 f(3)=(2-3)(3-3)*q(3)+a*3+b 3a+b=2........(2)
victory at last.....UNIFIED COUNCIL HAS DELETED Q 49 IN CLASS 10 thanks to the e-mail bombarders.. but the answer sheets checked in this period of 4 days( from 14-18) will suffer...as they aren't going to check again....are they?/

Please solve this question...

man......they still havent changed it .....i have sent a dozen mails to them.....owner of the blog pls do something
SOLUTION:
we are dividing f(x) by (x-2)(x-3)
i.e x^2 -5x+6
see, whenever we divide by a quadratic expression i.e of degree2
(like in this case)..we get a remainder either of degree 1(in the form of ax+b) or a constant term
dividend=divisor*quotient+remainder
let the quotient be q(x) and rem be ax+b
f(x)=(x-2)(x-3)*q(x)+(ax+b)
Put x=2;
f(2)=(2-2)(3-2)*q(2)+a*2+b
2a+b=3..........(1)
put x=3
f(3)=(2-3)(3-3)*q(3)+a*3+b
3a+b=2........(2)
by (1) and (2)...
a=-1
b=5
remainder = ax+b... (-x+5)
or 5-x ANS
hope u understood
